St. Augustine Lawn Care Program – Burleson, TX
Designed by Aaron Shehan, Practical Agronomist — built for North Texas shade & soil conditions
St. Augustine is beautiful but demanding. It loves warm weather but struggles with high-pH clay soils, poor drainage, and lawn diseases like Brown Patch, Take-All Root Rot, and Gray Leaf Spot. Our 8-round St. Augustine program is based on real North Texas soil testing and tailored for Burleson’s conditions, so your lawn stays thicker, greener, and healthier longer.
Our 8-Round St. Augustine Program
Round 1 – Winter Weed Control
A liquid Specticle® pre-emergent prevents tough winter weeds like annual bluegrass, rescue grass, and henbit before they sprout. Keeps your St. Augustine lawn clean through dormancy and sets the stage for a strong spring green-up.
Round 2 – Spring Recovery & Disease Protection
A liquid blend of Ammonium Sulfate (AMS), Sulfate of Potash (SOP), and our North Texas MicroPak, paired with a broad-spectrum fungicide targeting:
- Brown Patch
- Take-All Root Rot (TARR)
- Gray Leaf Spot
This round jump-starts recovery from winter stress while shielding the turf from the three most common St. Augustine diseases.
Round 3 – Spring Growth & Color
We apply our proprietary Gro Lawn St. Augustine/Zoysia Blend 12-3-6 professional turf fertilizer, designed by Aaron Shehan using local soil test data. This blend includes humic acid to aid micronutrient uptake in high-pH soils.
This round promotes deep green color, stronger roots, and thicker stolon growth as St. Augustine enters peak season.
Round 4 – Early Summer Color & Strength
A granular application of our proprietary St. Augustine/Zoysia Blend 12-3-6 provides steady, balanced feeding through early summer. It supports thick, even growth and rich color without excessive top growth.
Round 5 – Mid-Summer Resilience
Another round of our custom St. Augustine/Zoysia Blend 12-3-6 keeps your lawn fed through Burleson’s toughest heat. Built for consistent nutrition, water-use efficiency, and stress recovery in shaded or semi-shaded lawns.
Round 6 – Late-Summer Recovery & Brown Patch Prevention
A balanced granular blend of AMS, SOP, Phosphorus, and North Texas MicroPak, combined with a preventive fungicide for Brown Patch protection. This round strengthens roots and prepares the turf for cooler nights and rising disease pressure.
Round 7 – Fall Weed & Disease Control
A liquid Specticle® pre-emergent plus Avenue South for broadleaf control, blended with AMS, SOP, and North Texas MicroPak, along with a targeted fungicide for Brown Patch management.
This round prevents fall weeds and stops disease before dormancy, helping your St. Augustine lawn stay thick and healthy into winter.
Round 8 – Elemental Sulfur for Long-Term Soil Health
A granular elemental sulfur application gently lowers soil pH and improves nutrient availability in Burleson’s alkaline clay. This boosts iron, phosphorus, and micronutrient uptake and enhances the effectiveness of all future fertilizer rounds.
